☀️ SunnyData team back at booth #E502

June was huge for Databricks, and it wasn’t just the product updates. With thousands of data leaders gathered in San Francisco (and online), the Data + AI Summit 2025 set the tone for what modern data platforms should look like in the GenAI era.

From no-code workflows to lightning-fast SQL, the announcements weren’t just flashy, they were deeply practical.

Here’s what stood out and why it matters.

📦 DATBRICKS GOES FREE(ISH)

No credit card, no commitment, just core platform access! With the launch of Databricks Free Edition, anyone can now spin up a workspace and get hands-on with the lakehouse, notebooks, SQL, and more.

It’s a smart move to bring learners, experimenters, and early-stage teams into the fold, and lower the barrier to data + AI fluency.

🛠️ MOSAIC AI GETS POWERFUL NEW TOOLS

New features like AI Functions in SQL, Agent Evaluation, and Model Serving UI upgrades make it easier to build, evaluate, and deploy GenAI apps. Right inside the Databricks platform.

👉 Bonus: SQL-based GenAI inference is now x3 faster and x4 cheaper.

🧠 MLFLOW 3.0 GOES GENAI-NATIVE

MLflow got a major upgrade to support modern AI workloads:

This is MLOps, reimagined for LLMs.

🌉 LAKEBRIDGE SIMPLIFIES MIGRATION

Lakebridge automates warehouse-to-lakehouse migrations with built-in SQL translation, profiling, and validation.
It’s open source and designed to cut migration time in half.

🧩 LAKEFLOW ENTERS GA,  WITH A NO-CODE DESIGNER PREVIEW

Lakeflow is now generally available for building declarative pipelines.

A new Lakeflow Designer (private preview) adds a drag-and-drop UI for ETL workflows.

⚡ SQL PERFORMANCE KEEPS CLIMBING

Databricks SQL dashboards now run up to x5 faster than in 2022, thanks to ongoing Photon engine upgrades and smarter auto-optimization.
